Graduate Record Examination will become much more expensive, comprehensive and stressful in September. With the new changes to the test, many students will face complications in studying for the test, which will affect students who want to obtain a graduate degree.With the change, the old GRE will be admistered in July 2007 for the last time before the release of the new test in September. The current version of the test is only several hours long and only test basic knowledge at the college level. However, the new GRE will change the perspective of graduate level programs and increase the level of thinking for students.The new test is four hours long and includes longer analogies, more data analysis in the quantitive section and more essays in the analytical section.

The US based Education Testing Service (ETS) has announced the date of registration for the GRE that will commence from July this year. The registration for the test in India had been closed as more than 52,000 aspirants had applied for the test in 2006 alone which created a disproportion in the total number of applications in comparison to other countries. The decision was taken to ensure that there are an adequate number of Indian test takers in the September 2007 administrations of the revised GRE General Test. The results from September tests will be used to set the score scales for the GRE Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections, and these score scales will be used for decades to come .

GRE

Administration of the new GRE will begin in September, with specific dates depending on the location. Due to the changes, students will not be able to take the GRE in August.Each GRE general test has a verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and analytical writing section. All sections will have different types of questions and new formats.Currently, the GRE is scheduled several times a week, but after July, the exam will be administered 35 times annually.The revised four-hour test, compared to the current two-hour one, will not include antonyms or analogies and will shift from an adaptive format to a linear structure.

The Education Testing Service announced earlier this month it would stop administering the current version of the Graduate Record Examination.The new version of the GRE will be administered beginning in September, which does not leave much time for potential test takers to prepare for the latest version.Over 500,000 students take the exam each year, and now students are forced to make a decision on whether to take it under the old or new format. the new version of the GRE will have a greater emphasis on cognitive and reasoning skills, including questions with complex sentences that require filling in multiple words. The math section will focus more on data analysis for more “world-life” problems rather than geometry. students who plan on taking the test should give themselves three months of preparation time. Given the change in the test dates, Kaplan said students should enroll now in practice courses if they plan to take the GRE before July 31.

The The Education Testing Service (ETS) directs The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) on behalf of the Graduate Record Examinations Board and the Council of Graduate Schools. GRE Test is chiefly a multiple-choice test. The GRE test scores have to be submitted by students aspiring for admission in international graduate school for Graduate program. NET, GATE, GRE

NET , GATE, GRE are three exam, which maks the way for post graduates in maths for high
er education in India and USA. Net held two times in a year , once in june and december.For first paper one should good in linear algebra, abstract albebra, real and complex analysis, opratational research add differential equations.First paper is important, because it is necessary to qualify. In mathematics section, one has to attempt 70 questions out of 100. general science section is same for all stream. it contain 30 questions.45+ is good score for this paper. it may vary year to year on the basis of difficulty level.in second paper one has to attempt 10 question out of 40-45 question.if one takes a margin in first paper , then 5-6 question are sufficient to qualify for JRF.after two years sucessfull research , you can apply for senior research fellowship. Role of Ph.d and Net is debatable issue in india.Few days ago, even a Ph.d does not eligible for lecturership , unless one is net qualified. NET Qualified teacher does not motivates for serious research. It is not a good sine for a mature society. some state governmens also started SLET on the lines of NET for their students.there is no check on the quality of SLET. Gate is more elite exam in comprision of NET.it consist MHRD fellowship, after admmission in central versities( iits, iisc,etc ). Now government decided to provide MHRD to state versities also. Gate held every year in feb.its score is valid for 2 years. GATE Usally difficult for students belongs to state versities.
