This years Ramanujan,s awards was back in his country.it was given on the work on Iwasawa theory.This theory joints thread between geometry, algebra and number theory.It is too difficult to explain it in layman language.IKenkichi Iwasawa attended elementary school in the town of his birth but went to Tokyo for his high school studies which were at the Musashi High School. In 1937 he entered Tokyo University where he was taught by Shokichi Shokichi Iyanaga and Zyoiti Suetuna. At this time Tokyo University had become a centre for the study of algebraic number theory as a result of Teiji Takagi's remarkable contributions.n number theory, Iwasawa theory is a Galois module theory of ideal class groups, initiated by Kenkichi Iwasawa, in the 1950's, as part of the theory of cyclotomic fields.
