NCERT

NCERT introduced new books for Classes II, IV, VII, X and XII this year. A similar effort has been made in new science textbooks. Attractive photos, a glossary and boxes have been included in the books, said Singh, who was chief coordinator for mathematics and science textbooks. NCERT has also prepared a set of model questions for Classes X and XII on each subject that have been designed according to the recommendations of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). The NCF recommended that questions should aim at testing the analytical ability of students. NCERT has submitted the question papers to CBSE so that it can frame questions on a similar pattern. In the Class X textbook, surface area and volume of solids like cones and cylinders have been explained through simple activities. For example, students will be provided an actual cone and asked to measure its area.
