civil service career

Civil services, once a coveted career option for students in urban does not seem to hold the same fascination for them any longer. Union Public Service Commission has found that more students with a rural background are trying their luck in the civil services examinations. In recent years, many students from rural areas have made it to the Indian Administrative Service.Lack of persistence and desire to settle quickly in their life rather than wait for years to get into the prestigious service are considered to be some of the reasons for this poor response.city-based students have more exposure as far as their career options are c.oncerned than the rural students. With plenty of options on their hands, the city students are able to select a career that would suit them considering the time and money involved in it.The emergence of the infotech sector is seen as the single most important factor in weaning students away from the civil services. In addition, the growth of sunrise sectors such as pharma, banking, and retail has contributed to the lack of interest in civil services, especially in urban areas.
