IIT-PUNJAB

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)for Punjab, will start functioning from this academic year, offering 120 seats. But it will be located on the IIT Delhi campus for the time being. The IIT campus of Punjab will come up at Ropar. This decision was taken during a meeting of a Central government team. The team also approved a 500-acre patch of land located in erstwhile Birla farms in Ropar for constructing the IIT campus. However, a final decision in this regard will be taken in Delhi.It has been decided that after conducting the classes for one year in Delhi, the operations would shift to Mohali till the time the campus at Ropar comes up. The team also saw some accommodation at Mohali where the campus would be shifted for the next academic year. They also saw the site at Ropar and approved the same.
